KinTypes terms of service

These terms are a contract between you and Worldbuilders Inc. They govern the KinTypes mobile app, website, hosted Kinlists, social features, and related services (together, “KinTypes”).

1. Agreement and eligibility

By accessing KinTypes, creating an account, or accepting these terms in the app, you agree to these terms, the privacy policy, age policy, and community rules. If you do not agree, do not use KinTypes.

You must be at least 13 years old and complete the age check described in the age policy. If the law where you live requires a higher minimum age or permission from a parent or legal guardian, that higher age or permission requirement applies. Permission to download the app does not override KinTypes eligibility. If you use KinTypes for an organization, you represent that you can bind it to these terms.

2. What KinTypes is

KinTypes is a fictionkin-first identity and community service. It lets people build a kinlist, keep private identity and experience records, publish selected kintype pages, and participate in identity-aware community features.

KinTypes is not a healthcare provider, diagnostic tool, therapy service, crisis line, or emergency service. Content from KinTypes or its users is not medical, legal, or other professional advice. If you or someone else may be in immediate danger, contact local emergency services or an appropriate crisis service.

3. Your account

You need a supported Apple or Google account to sign in. Provide accurate information, keep your sign-in method secure, and notify us promptly if you believe your account is compromised. You are responsible for activity under your account, including activity presented through one of your kintypes. A presented kintype never removes the owning account’s responsibility.

You may not sell, transfer, share, or create accounts to evade restrictions. We may reclaim usernames that violate another person’s rights, mislead users, or are needed for service operations.

4. Privacy and visibility choices

Each kintype page has one visibility state: public, unlisted, or private. Public pages may appear on your hosted profile and in discovery. Unlisted pages do not appear in ordinary profile or discovery surfaces but can be viewed by anyone with the direct link; an unlisted link is not a security boundary. Private pages are owner-only. Completed sections inherit the page’s visibility.

Raw Journal entries, private notes, Kinshift records and timing, editor prompts, archives, and other account-private workspace records do not enter a public or social response unless KinTypes later introduces a separate sharing feature and you expressly use it. Where your Profile identity follows a Kinshift or is pinned to a kintype, other people receive only the resolved public presentation—not the underlying Kinshift record, private identity, Journal text, timing, or overlap. New posts snapshot the resolved presentation used when posted.

You understand that people can copy, screenshot, or reshare information that you make public or unlisted. Visibility changes cannot remove copies made outside KinTypes.

5. Your content and the permission you give us

You keep ownership of content you submit to KinTypes (“Your Content”). You represent that you have the rights and permissions needed to submit it and that doing so does not violate law, these terms, or anyone else’s rights.

You grant Worldbuilders Inc a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, reproduce, format, transmit, display, and otherwise process Your Content only as reasonably necessary to operate, secure, back up, improve, and provide KinTypes according to your settings and actions. This license includes permission to use service providers acting for us and to create technical copies, such as thumbnails and backups. It does not give us ownership of Your Content or permission to sell private workspace content.

The license ends when Your Content is deleted from our active systems, except for copies that remain temporarily in rotating backups, report-time evidence, security records, or records we must keep for legal reasons. Public content may remain in content other users created, such as replies, and in copies made outside KinTypes.

Feedback and product suggestions may be used without restriction or compensation, but we will not treat private workspace content as feedback.

6. Fictionkin, fan content, and intellectual property

KinTypes helps users describe identities connected to characters, species, people, and source media. KinTypes is not affiliated with or endorsed by the owners of those sources unless we expressly say otherwise. A kintype entry does not grant ownership of a character, canon, trademark, artwork, or other third-party property.

Use your own work, licensed material, or material you are otherwise legally permitted to use. Provide credit where appropriate. We may remove or restrict material that allegedly infringes rights and may terminate repeat infringers when appropriate.

To submit a copyright or other intellectual-property complaint, email admin@worldbuilders.app with your contact information, identification of the protected work, the exact KinTypes content or URL, why you believe the use is unauthorized, a statement that the information is accurate and submitted in good faith, and your physical or electronic signature. We may send the complaint to the affected user and accept a response or counter-notice where applicable.

7. Community safety and acceptable use

Shared KinTypes surfaces are safe-for-work and designed for people age 13 and older. Interaction labels such as Doubles INT (interact), Doubles IWC (interact with caution), and Doubles DNI (do not interact) express a person’s requested boundaries. They do not authorize harassment, transfer ownership of a source or character, or replace KinTypes Hide, Block, Report, or moderator controls.

You may not use KinTypes to:

8. Reports, moderation, and emergencies

We may use automated signals and human review to detect abuse, rate-limit activity, preserve report-time evidence, place reversible holds, reduce distribution, remove content, or restrict accounts. Automated thresholds do not by themselves make a final permanent-ban decision. Moderation is imperfect; we do not promise to review every item or prevent every harmful interaction.

We may report apparent child exploitation, credible threats, emergencies, or unlawful conduct to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children, law enforcement, or other appropriate authorities when required or reasonably necessary. False, abusive, or retaliatory reports may themselves violate these terms.

9. Pro subscriptions and purchases

A free account can have up to six active kintypes. Pro unlocks unlimited active kintypes. Profile appearance, social features, Journal, safety tools, backup, export, and deletion are not Pro-only features. Archived, imported, and over-limit records remain preserved; if Pro ends, you may need to archive active kintypes until six remain before activating another one.

Apple or Google processes payments, and RevenueCat helps us manage entitlement status. Prices, taxes, trial terms, billing periods, and renewal details are shown before purchase. Subscriptions automatically renew unless you cancel through the applicable app store at least as early as that store requires. The store controls payment methods, refunds, and cancellation. Deleting KinTypes or your KinTypes account does not automatically cancel an app-store subscription.

We may change future pricing or plan features with notice required by law and the app store, but we will not delete preserved records solely because you stop paying.

10. Our software and property

Subject to these terms, we give you a personal, limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the KinTypes app and service for lawful personal use. The app-store standard end-user license agreement also applies to the app license where the store provides one.

Except for Your Content and third-party material, KinTypes—including its software, design, branding, and documentation—is owned by Worldbuilders Inc or its licensors. These terms do not grant rights to use KinTypes names, logos, or source code outside ordinary use of the service.

11. Export, deletion, and account closure

Readable export and account deletion remain available regardless of Pro status. Exports can contain sensitive identity, Journal, and image data and are not guaranteed to be encrypted; store and share them carefully. Deletion can be irreversible, so export first if you want a copy.

You can request deletion in the app or through our account-deletion page. Account deletion removes active account-private backups, hosted and social records, uploaded media, provider links, and tokens as described in the privacy policy. We may retain a minimal deletion tombstone, moderation records, report evidence, fraud and security records, and legally required records. Deleting content cannot remove screenshots or copies held by other people.

12. Third-party services

KinTypes depends on third-party sign-in, app stores, purchase infrastructure, hosting, and storage. Their terms and privacy policies govern their own services. We are not responsible for third-party services, external links, source media, or user-to-user transactions.

13. Service changes, suspension, and termination

We may add, change, suspend, or discontinue features; apply reasonable limits; or perform maintenance. We may restrict or terminate access if you violate these terms, create risk or legal exposure, or threaten users or the service. Where practical, we will use proportionate measures and preserve access to safety reversals, purchase restoration, export, and deletion.

You may stop using KinTypes at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination—including ownership, retained licenses, disclaimers, liability limits, indemnity, and dispute terms—continue to apply.

14. Disclaimers

To the fullest extent permitted by law, KinTypes is provided “as is” and “as available.” Worldbuilders Inc and its affiliates, officers, employees, licensors, and service providers disclaim all express and implied warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, title, non-infringement, and any warranty arising from course of dealing.

We do not warrant uninterrupted or error-free operation, perfect moderation or security, permanent storage, complete or accurate imports or exports, particular community interactions, or compatibility with every device or provider. You are responsible for keeping any backup you need.

15. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, Worldbuilders Inc and its affiliates, officers, employees, licensors, and service providers will not be liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, exemplary, or punitive damages, or for lost data, profits, revenue, goodwill, opportunities, or service access, arising from or relating to KinTypes or these terms, even if advised that such damages are possible.

To the fullest extent permitted by law, their total aggregate liability for all claims arising from or relating to KinTypes or these terms will not exceed the greater of US $100 or the amount you paid to Worldbuilders Inc for KinTypes during the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim.

These exclusions and limits do not apply where prohibited, including to liability that cannot lawfully be limited. Some jurisdictions give consumers non-waivable rights or do not allow certain warranty or damages exclusions, so parts of these sections may not apply to you.

16. Indemnity

To the extent permitted by law, you will defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Worldbuilders Inc and its affiliates, officers, employees, and agents from third-party claims, damages, losses, and reasonable legal costs arising from Your Content, your unlawful use of KinTypes, or your material breach of these terms. This obligation does not apply to the extent a claim results from our own conduct, and it does not limit non-waivable consumer rights.

17. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to conflict-of-law rules. Subject to non-waivable consumer rights, the state and federal courts located in Delaware have exclusive jurisdiction over disputes. If the law where you live gives you the right to bring a consumer claim in your local courts or under local law, this section does not take that right away.

Before filing a claim, please email admin@worldbuilders.app so we can try to resolve it informally. Nothing here prevents either party from seeking urgent injunctive relief or using an eligible small-claims process.

18. App-store terms

Apple and Google are not parties to these terms and are not responsible for KinTypes support, except as their store terms provide. If you downloaded the app from an app store, you also agree to that store’s usage rules. To the extent required by the applicable store terms, the store operator and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of the app-license provisions and may enforce them.

19. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms as KinTypes or the law changes. We will post the updated version and effective date and give additional notice when required. If a material change requires renewed consent, we will ask you to accept it before continuing to use the affected service. Changes do not retroactively reduce rights without a lawful basis.

20. General

These terms and the policies they incorporate are the entire agreement about KinTypes. If a provision is unenforceable, it will be limited to the minimum extent necessary and the rest will remain effective. Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver. You may not assign these terms without our consent; we may assign them as part of a merger, financing, reorganization, or sale of the service, subject to applicable law.
